CBS This Morning contributor and best-selling author Lee Woodruff will join the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce for the special event Making Memories Through Life’s Journeys on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville from 5 to 9 p.m.
The main highlight of event will be a presentation from Woodruff as she discusses how her life was changed forever when her husband was injured while reporting on the war in Iraq.
Lee Woodruff knows firsthand, that life can change in an instant. One minute, you’re a successful freelance writer and businesswoman, mother of four children, and wife of Bob Woodruff, the newly appointed co-anchor of ABC’s World NewsTonight. The next minute, your life turns upside down when your husband is severely wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Iraq.
Showing immense courage, Woodruff held her family together during this trying time. Now a best-selling author and CBS This Morning contributing reporter, Woodruff will share her personal story, providing the wisdom and inspiration she learned along her remarkable, and often difficult, journey.
After her presentation, Lee Woodruff will sign copies of her bestseller, “In an Instant”, which will be available for purchase at the event.
“We are excited to bring Lee Woodruff to central Connecticut to share her incredible story of tragedy and triumph,” said Cindy Scoville, Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce President & CEO. “She is a truly inspiring speaker and we know everyone will come away moved by her presentation.”
During the event there will also be a Memory Walk honoring those who have made an impact in the lives of others. All attendees are invited to honor an important person, living or deceased, who has affected their life in a positive way by bringing a photo and/or note about what that person means to them.
These honors will be displayed in a Memory Walk, which all attendees will be able to take as everyone celebrates life’s journey and those who touch us along the way.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Shepard Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center’s Veterans’ Program. This is an equine facilitated learning and coaching program for veterans that focuses on improving the quality of daily lives by supporting the healing of trauma-related invisible wounds and increasing a sense of well-being.
This experiential program stimulates an interest in learning and practicing new skill-based tools designed to promote healthy relationships, emotion regulation and the rewiring of neural pathways.
