Archbishop Leonard P. Blair will celebrate the annual Respect Life Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 134 Farmington Ave., Hartford on Sunday, October 9th at 11 a.m.
Respect Life Month began Sunday, October 2nd in observance of those who are committed to expanding the culture of life from conception to natural death.
During the Mass, the Archbishop will present the Saint Gianna Beretta Molla Medal to: Reverend Thomas Walsh of Wallingford, Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Donna Finn of Southington, and Mr. Thomas Dwyer, Bristol for their strong commitment to the sanctity of human life.
The medal receives its name from a young Italian wife and mother, who placed the life of her unborn child ahead of her own. Despite a medical condition and the advice given to her by her doctor to abort her child, she sacrificed her life for the life of her baby.
At the Mass, new parish pro-life representatives will be commissioned, and blessed candles will be presented to pro-life representatives.
