While on a trip to Washington, D.C. for The US Conference of Mayors, Bristol Mayor Ken Cockayne grabbed a selfie with Ben Carson.
After Donald Trump’s win in the 2016 election, Ben Carson joined Trump’s transition team as Vice Chairman and was offered the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, which he accepted.
The United States Conference of Mayors is the official non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more.
There are 1,408 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
Conference members speak with a united voice on organizational policies and goals. Mayors contribute to the development of national urban policy by serving on one or more of the conference’s standing committees.
Cockayne also posted he had a morning meeting with Senator Murphy. Additionally the Mayor attended the Heath Secretary Confirmation hearing for Tom Price.
Cockayne thanked Senator Murphy for giving him the opportunity to attend as his special guest.
