After over a decade of waiting for the City to develop the former mall site, Bristol Hospital has stepped up and purchased a large portion of the former mall site for development. Included in the sale, the City will provide a new road and landscaping that will match the landscaping on a portion of North Main and Main Street.
The City is currently seeking bids for the construct of a new roadway on the former mall site.
The bid posting also includes utilities, water, sanitary sewers, and storm water sewers.
Bids will be accepted until September 7, 2017 at 3:30 pm — seems quick, but it is an election year.
The Press recently reported, “The Bristol Development Authority approved the master plan for the development at Centre Square — the former mall site — and the landscape plan for the Bristol Hospital Ambulatory Care Center.”
The Ambulatory Care Center is expected to be a 60,000 square foot two-story building.
The building is expected to employ dozens of medical professionals while servicing thousands of patients downtown.
Bristol Hospital has signed an agreement with Developer Rendina Healthcare Real Estate. The firm says it will develop a high-quality project transforming downtown Bristol and the former mall site.
According to Rendina, they have developed more than 7.25 million square feet of healthcare facilities, working with hospitals and developing projects for healthcare systems throughout the United States.
Rendina will oversee all stages of development, from conception to execution, including planning, financing, construction, leasing and property management.
In addition to the sale, a Preliminary Master Plan for the former mall site was approved this week. To view the plan click here.
The completion date for the Ambulatory Care Center is expected to be in late 2019 or Spring of 2020.
