On Saturday, September 30, 2017, Redeemer’s African Methodist Episcopal Church invites the public, pet owners, and animal lovers to its first Blessing of the Animals to be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at 110 Whiting St.
The special service of Thanksgiving for the community’s nonhuman loved ones is free and will feature individual pet blessings, blessings of redeemer’s and the local pet community, free certificates of each blessing will be available, refreshments for pets and human friends and social media photo opportunities for pets and friends.
“Pets and people of all faiths are welcome” said the Rev. Dr. Shelley, senior pastor at the church.
“The members our youth ministry wanted us to show our gratitude for the countless contributions animals in general, and family pets, make to our community. They provide joy and comfort for many while assuring safety, companionship, and assistance for many others”.
Pet food and monetary donations will be accepted for local animals in need. Animals must be on leashes or in carriers.

Singer Chris Brown has been released from police custody and he won’t face any charges at this time, the Paris prosecutor’s office said. Brown and two others, who were not identified, were arrested Tuesday in Paris on allegations of aggravated rape and drug violations, a French judicial source told CNN.
