Now that Bristol Mayor Ken Cockayne has been censured for the second time, many residents are still unfamiliar with “censuring” and what lead the Mayor down that road.
A censure is to express severe disapproval of someone typically in a formal statement. It is also the highest form of punishment any elected official in Bristol can receive.
Bristol Beat Radio reported details on what lead to Cockayne’s censuring by obtaining a report through the freedom of information act. The report was prepared by an outside law firm charged with investigating the conduct of Cockayne.
