Over the last few election cycles, Bristol Republicans mostly used big yard signs in high traffic areas with big head-shots on them.
They also used billboard advertising too.
That approach is clear to see again in 2017.
In 2014, State Representative Cara Pavalock (R) used very large signs displaying an almost full body image with her hands crossed conveying a message to voters she meant business.
That tactic worked, she won.
Her husband Tony D’Amato (R) City Councilperson did the same and received the second highest votes below Councilperson Calvin Brown (D) who received the highest votes in Bristol for his first and second term.
Bristol Democrats seem to have caught on this year with bigger signs with head-shots in addition too billboards.
Currently elected Democrats are the minority in Bristol when you include both City and State positions.
The report says “All those political yard signs littering neighborhoods at election time may not be accomplishing that much, a new study found — though perhaps enough to swing a close election.”
Do big political signs make a difference?
