Write-in candidate thanks supporters and challengers

Richard Kriscenski

I want to thank all those who wrote in my name for mayor. I truly appreciate it.

Although I lost by a wide margin, (not unexpected), I am glad I had the opportunity to have the forum to fight Trumpism, the disastrous Republican Agenda in Washington and Gov. Malloy’s “new economic reality” which protects the wealthy and corporations and is hurting working families.

The Bristol Democrats’ political landside is no profile in courage in fighting these issues but they did benefit from the repudiation of Trumpism as well as the personal issues surrounding the mayor.

As I said in my announcement, both candidates have admirable qualities. I think Mayor-elect Zoppo-Sassu should embrace those good qualities in her governing because if she succumbs to her less than admirable qualities, she will not be a successful mayor.

As for Mayor Cockayne, I have had numerous conversations with him and we would disagree, but never was there an unkind word exchanged. I appreciate that he was generous with his time and his graciousness.

I feel that Trumpism has been defeated in Bristol and in my defeat I have a sense of a big win.

Thank you again to everybody who voted for me.
