The Road to Somewhere is a series of articles that chronicle the redevelopment of the former mall site with the simple start of a road. Road to Somewhere also covers community comments and politics commentary.
The new road is being built at lighting speed. The road work continues daily.
There is a new lower grade level on the road entrance, on located on Riverside Avenue.
Another goal is in front of the police department. The entire property has all entrances.
Also, the word is that one or two investors are already interested in the smaller lots.
This road is going up fast — really fast.
So fast it makes it political — told you so.
The Hospital bought a large portion of the property with ample parking which should not be a problem for Hospital.
Keep speaking positive folks, the BDA is working hard to make this happen. The BDA has an amazing track record of bringing in new business and helping current business stay in town.
The new road will be about 1,000 feet long and contain many streetscape components including trees, brick pavers, a center median made of “stamped asphalt,” decorative lights, landscaping, granite curbing, and a bus stop location.
The road will match the current look of North Main and Main Streets. The City will also update the traffic signal at North Main Street and Laurel streets.
