Of the hundreds of stories we posted this year, these were the five most-read, shared, and discussed pieces in 2017.
In a year largely overshadowed by a highly contentious and many would say unusual mayoral race and all its drama, it can be difficult to recall quickly everything that has happened over the past year in Bristol.
Nevertheless, 2017 has brought with it plenty of news — both good and bad — and as the year comes to a close, we are taking a look back at some of the Roundup’s biggest stories.
Loosing a child is a nightmare for parents. So, when a 15 year-old went missing, it caught the attention of over 46,000 readers and was shared over four thousand times on Facebook. The teen has since been found and is safe.
This story is just plain ugly and did not shine a good light on Bristol. The incident received National attention and showed the horrible side of parenting. The fight was posted on social media and went viral. Several people were heard encouraging the women in the video to fight while children watched. The parents were eventually arrested. Because the incident was caught on video, it received 44,000 readers not including Facebook shares.
When it comes to food, businesses and your favorite spot closing, it makes the news. When it was reported Frankies was closing, it made huge news. The building was recent demolished to make way for a new medical building. This story received over 42,000 readers and with additional stories on the topic , it received over 129,000 readers with Facebook shares not included.
After almost two years of hearing, reading, and seeing all things Aaron Hernandez, Bristolites grew tired of the tragedy and fall of a town hero. When police announced road closures for Hernandez’s Funeral, it caught the attention of over 41,000 readers and might possibly have given them some closure as well.
This story is just horrible to read and the headline says it all. Because of the heinous crime, this story received over 39,000 readers not including Facebook shares.
Finally, to all of our loyal readers, we wish you a very Happy New Year!
we hope that 2018 is a good year for you and your friends & family.
