The Bristol-Burlington Health Department monthly inspects businesses serving food to ensure restaurants and other food retail outlets are following safe food handling procedures.
Connecticut regulates how often these inspections take place, and what specific items the inspectors look for, but, in general, health inspectors check that safeguards are in place to protect food from contamination by food handlers, cross-contamination, and contamination from other sources in the restaurant.

HARTFORD — Connecticut lawmakers are considering once again whether to require motorcycle drivers to wear helmets. The Public Health Committee is holding a public hearing Monday on two bills that would impose mandatory helmet use. EAST WINDSOR — Now here is something to give a hoot about! An injured owl was found on Scantic Road by the East Windsor Public Works Department. They were plowing during the last storm. The bird was taken to the Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton to recover from its injuries. According the East Windsor Police Department, the owl will be returned to Scantic road after it makes a full recovery.
