Bristol Swings into Spring

Center Stage Jazz performed at the Simsbury Meadows Performance Center at the Community Band Festival

For those looking for a Pre-St. Patrick evening out with your spouse, an evening of dancing with a favorite partner, dance classmates or just an entertaining night out with family and friends, the Plainville Wind Ensemble is hosting an evening of great dance music provided by Center Stage Jazz.

This annual fundraiser for the Plainville Wind Ensemble will be held on Friday, March 16th, 7-11 pm, at The New England Carousel Museum, 95 Riverside Avenue, Bristol.

The Center Stage Jazz is a program of the Plainville Wind Ensemble known for their jazz and big band sound from swing to even a little country. Directed by David Zoni , the 19 piece band, with vocalist Beverly St. Onge, has performed at Trinity on Main, Norton Park, Welte Hall at CCSU, Brookfield Library, the New Britain Museum of American Art, Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center, Witch Doctor Brewery, and the Lake George Festival of Bands in New York.

The Museum houses one of the largest collections of antique carousel pieces in the country, a large beautiful dance hall and an indoor functioning carousel. Those attending the dance can experience the “Golden Age of the Carousel” throughout the evening as they browse through the colorful displays of the hand-carved carousel animals of America’s rich folk art history throughout the dance hall and below in the Museum area.

The museum is known for its dedication to the acquisition, restoration, and preservation of operating carousels and carousel memorabilia. An indoor carousel will be available to ride during the evening.

This is a “dress to impress” evening. Participants may bring their own snacks, mixers and BYOB. Tables may be reserved when purchasing tickets of eight or more.

Tickets are $20.00 per person and may be purchased from any Ensemble member, or at the Plainville Recreation Department on Whiting Street, Plainville.

A limited amount of tickets will be sold at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Plainville Wind Ensemble.

The Plainville Wind Ensemble (and its affiliated small group ensembles) is a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization and is an all-volunteer group directed by Ken Bagley. For more information log onto www.plainvillewindensemble.com or visit us on Facebook
