American Clock & Watch Museum Announces Opening Day

The American Clock & Watch Museum will open for the 2018 season on Saturday, April 7th.Opening Day is sponsored by Quinoco Energy Service. All visitors will receive free admission from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Special activities will include scavenger hunts and crafts for children and families.

The official opening of the exhibit, Scandals & Scoundrels: Tales from the Dark Side of the Clock & Watch Industries, will take place at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the day, make sure to stop by the clock shop to chat with some of the clock and watch repair people who will be offering demonstrations of their craft.

The American Clock & Watch Museum is located at 100 Maple Street, Bristol, Connecticut. The museum maintains one of the largest collections of American clocks and watches in the world with approximately 6,000 timepieces in its collection.

As visitors travel through the museum’s eight galleries, many timekeeping devices chime and strike upon the hour. Located in the historic Federal Hills district of Bristol, the museum boasts 10,000 square feet of exhibit space housed in an 1801 Federal-style home and two modern additions.

It has a beautiful sundial garden that is meticulously maintained by the members of the Bristol Garden Club. The museum’s mission is to celebrate the ingenuity and artistry of the industries that launched America’s industrial revolution and democratized access to accurate timekeeping.

To achieve this mission, the museum maintains the premier historical collection of American clocks and watches that show how these industries developed in America.

The museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.from April 2nd to November 30, 2018. Winter hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December 2018 through March 2019. There is an admission charge.
