Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Slated for New Main St. Restaurant

Main Street Pint & Plate Bristol

The public is invited to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Bristol’s latest downtown gathering spot.

The Main Street Pint & Plate. The event will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 23rd at the new restaurant’s location of 182 Main Street in Bristol.

The new owners, J.R. Rusgrove and his wife Leanne, will be joined by Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu and various members of the Bristol City Council and Bristol Development Authority (BDA) Board of Directors to cut the ceremonial grand opening ribbon.

“This has been a much anticipated addition to the downtown landscape because of the type of business it is and the people who are committed to its success,” said Mayor Zoppo-Sassu.

“J. R. and his crew have invested and hosted satisfied customers for years at Parkside Cafe.” With this opening and their alliance with The Firefly Hollow Brewing Company they show how businesses can work together while serving the community.”

The site has just completed renovations that include new floors, a remodeled kitchen and an upgraded bar.

The BDA awarded a grant that matched a $60,000 investment by the Main Street Pint and Plate owners to remodel the building.

It is estimated that the grant will be repaid through new tax revenue associated with the project within four years. The bar and restaurant combination will feature a diverse menu of culinary options that will be created by Chef Drew Osborn.

A strong wintry storm still was dumping snow Friday in far northern New England after creating traffic havoc that claimed at least eight lives across the country’s eastern half and knocked out power for tens of thousands of people. A mix of rain, snow and ice that initially hit the Midwest caused headaches from the South to the Northeast, leaving up to a foot of snow in some parts of the latter and widespread freezing rain and ice accumulations elsewhere.
