Health Department Releases April Restaurant Inspection Scores

Rodd’s Restaurant, Bristol staff and owner

Charles I. Motes, Director of Health says “the Health Department offers services and programs include school and oral health, disease prevention and control, environmental health protection, public health emergency planning response, and health education.”

“Bristol-Burlington Health District also works closely with other local, state and federal agencies who share the goal of healthier communities. We have many resources available to the public online.”

The Bristol-Burlington Health Department monthly inspects businesses serving food to ensure restaurants and other food retail outlets are following safe food handling procedures.

Connecticut regulates how often these inspections take place, and what specific items the inspectors look for, but, in general, health inspectors check that safeguards are in place to protect food from contamination by food handlers, cross-contamination, and contamination from other sources in the restaurant.

Monthly inspection reports are released to the public online at The Bristol-Burlington Health Department website or in person.

Inspection results performed by The Bristol-Burlington Health Department for April 2018 are as follows:

Bitcoin used to buy 2 pizzas in 2010 now worth $82 million

Hallmark may need to update its official list of holidays. Tuesday was Bitcoin Pizza Day, or what Business Insider calls “the most celebrated day in crypto,” marking the eighth anniversary of when programmer Laszlo Hanyecz made what’s thought to be the very first purchase with bitcoin. That purchase, per Quartz: two large pizzas from Papa John’s for 10,000 bitcoins, an amount worth about $30 back then. Hanyecz sent his hoarded cryptocurrency to a fellow “bitcoiner,” who then placed the order. The price of bitcoin […]
