The Bristol Interfaith Coalition is celebrating “A Taste of Ramadan” on Monday, May 21, from 6:30pm-9:30pm.
The event, being held at the Bristol Boys & Girls Club is an opportunity for the community to break the fast with our Muslim neighbors.
A panel will discuss the role of fasting in different religions, and then after sunset, at 8:12pm, all attendees will enjoy dinner together (Iftar).
For those interested in experiencing a little of Ramadan, begin a fast for the day (or skip a meal), this small sacrifice will help to remind us of those among us with food insecurity.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to learn about Ramadan, meet some of their Muslim neighbors, while furthering their understanding of the diversity of people living in Bristol,” stated Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu.
“Within the next month or so, the City will also discuss creating a Diversity Council. Anyone who may be interested in participating should contact the Mayor’s office.”

BLOOMFIELD — Bloomfield police are looking for Mabel Perry-Pounds, a missing 89-year-old. She’s described as a black female with gray hair and brown eyes. She is about 5’7″ and weighs around 140 pounds. No picture was provided. She was last seen Sunday wearing a grey house coat, and carrying a purse and walking cane.
