Having to come back down early in the game, the Knights defeated the Madison Tigers 13-5 on Sunday in East Haven, CT to capture the East Shore 11u Elite Season Championship.
The initial offensive firepower by Madison was led by Paul Simmons and Gus Kasper, sending their five runners across the plate with RBIs in the first inning.
The Knights pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Josh Howard singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and scored two runs on a stolen base, Matt Chirumbolo singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and David Pengel singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Bennett Bishop led things off on the mound for the Knights surrendering five runs on four hits over five innings, striking out three.
Giovannio Kells was on the pitcher’s mound for Madison Tiger. He allowed 17 hits and 13 runs over four and third innings, striking out three.
The Knights 11u tallied two home runs on the day. Matt Chirumbolo homered in the fifth inning. Caiden Watson followed with a blast of his own in the fourth inning.
The championship winning New England Knights finished the East Shore Elite 11u season with a record of 24-1-1.
