BRISTOL — On Friday afternoon in the area of Mafale’s Plaza a plain-clothes detective observed an individual that the Superior Court in Bristol had issued two outstanding Failure to Appear in the First Degree arrest warrants for.
The two arrest warrants had bonds totaling one million dollars.
The detective requested assistance from uniformed patrol officers and when an arrest was attempted the male suspect fled and a brief foot chase ensued.
Responding officers were able to apprehend David L. Hughes, 31, of Kelley Street in Bristol and placed him under arrest.
Hughes was additionally charged with Interfering with an Officer and Escape from Custody when he was able to escape from the back of a police cruiser.
This prompted another brief foot chase whereupon Hughes was again apprehended.
Hughes is being held on a 1.1 million dollar bond pending his presentment at Bristol Superior Court on Monday.
According to Bristol Superior Court, Hughes failed to appear in court on 07-06-18 on pending weapon and drug charges.
