Hello Fall! September is here and the Library is getting ready for new programs at the Burlington Public Library!
Starting September 8th, Saturday hours will resume from 10 AM – 5 PM. The Library is located 34 Library Lane in Burlington.

Movie Matinee

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
PG-13 (130 minutes)

New Story Time Programs for Kids!
We are excited to announce that starting in September, we will be offering two new story time programs for kids.
Thursdays at 10:15 will be story time for 2 year-olds and their caregivers.
Thursdays at 11:15 will be story time for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers.
Each week will feature stories, songs and flannel boards centered around a theme. There will also be a make-and-take craft at each session.
We will also be offering our popular “Newbies” story time for children ages birth to 12 months, with their caregiver. Newbies will be held on Fridays at 11 AM.
Storytime programs will begin the week of September 3rd.
AM Book Discussion

What Would Reese Read Book Club
Wednesday, September 19th at 6 PM
Do you ever find yourself asking, “What Would Reese Witherspoon Read?”  The Burlington Public Library is pleased to offer a new book club to our patrons based on the picks of Hollywood’s trendiest reader.
Our first selection will be The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo. Books are available at the Circulation desk.
Welcome Back, TAC Meeting
Saturday, September 8th at 2 PM
Welcome back and welcome aboard! Come learn what Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is all about from other current TAC members at this informal meeting/party. Learn how YOU can impact what happens at the library. We will review our summer reading stats discuss ideas for the upcoming year. Current members are encouraged to bring a friend. Lots of refreshments served!
Muppet Treasure Island

Celebrate 2018’s “Talk Like a Pirate Day” with the Muppets as they take to the high seas in search of buried treasure in this remake of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale. Young Jim Hawkins is given a treasure map by a mysterious sailor and sets sail with his friends the Great Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat. Among the crew is the mutinous seadog Long John Silver, who has his own plans for the loot.
Pirate’s Booty snacks served.

The Great Burlington Baking Club

Monday, September 24th at 6 PM

Inspired by the hit TV show, The Great British Bake Off, Burlington Library will now be offering a program for all the home bakers out there. Simply check out a cookbook from our collection and bake a recipe from it that meets the theme of the month. Bring your dish in for others to sample. We’ll review the recipes and cookbooks we used and compile a list to share with one another.

Our challenge for September is to bake a dessert featuring fruit.

Foodies – No-bake Oreo Bars
Saturday, September 15th at 2 PM
Grades 5-12
Oreos, marshmallows, and butter make up this easy dessert. Milk will be served!
Family Story Time
Saturday, September 22nd at 11 AM
Join us for a special story time perfect for families and young children of all ages!
Enjoy stories, songs and other activities relating to our September theme – Love the Library!
The end of the program will feature a special make-and-take craft.
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Today’s the perfect day to sign your child up for a library card!
Rhythm & Rhyme Story Time
Wednesdays at 10:30 AM (beginning September 5th)
Children ages 12-24 months, with their caregiver
Join us for a morning of music!

A great social experience for both children and caregivers! Learn Nursery rhymes, do finger plays, sing songs, play instruments, dance, play with the parachute, and listen to a story. The program is followed by free play.

Registration required. Please sign up just the child who will be participating.
Crafts and Games for Kids
Wednesdays at 6 PM (beginning September 5th)
Ages 6-9 years
Join us each week for an activity for elementary school-aged kids. Each week will feature either a make-and-take craft project or games.
Registration not required.
Current Events for Teens
Monday, September 17th at 6:30 PM
Grades 7 & Up

Meet with other people who have opinions and aren’t afraid to express them – all without the fear of being graded or judged. Civility will prevail. Refreshments served.

A well-known surgeon from Newport Beach and his girlfriend are accused of drugging and sexually assaulting two women, and Southern California authorities said they believe there could be many more victims.
